The Red Bud High School boys basketball team opened their season at home last Tuesday evening against the Valmeyer Pirates. Things started slowly on the offensive end of the floor, and Valmeyer was able to keep pace early on, about midway through the first quarter the score was 6-6. Senior guard Noah Gantner came off the bench and immediately provided a spark with three straight buckets from downtown. Noah finished with 12 points, playing tenacious defense on the other end of the floor as well. The defense locked the Pirates down for the rest of the quarter, 21-6 was the score going into the second.
