Future not looking good for Modoc Ferry

Late last week, an update was posted about the Ste. Genevieve- Modoc Ferry, and the update is not a good one for local communities.

The Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center’s Facebook page, VisitSteGen, shared on June 5, “We are doing everything we can to save the Modoc Ferry. As it stands, it will cease operations at the end of June. After that, the ferry will be split and sold off.”

Earlier this year, the Port of New Bourbon, which operates the ferry, conducted a public survey about the future of it.

The Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry has been in operations since 1997 and provides a direct connection between Ste. Genevieve, Missouri and Randolph County, Illinois. The ferry is utilized by area tourists, truckers, farmers, industries and many people commuting to jobs on both sides of the river.
