SWIC held groundbreaking Friday

GROUND BROKEN FOR EXPANSION–Pictured at last Friday morning’s groundbreaking for Southwestern Illinois College Red Bud Campus’ new career technology education expansion are: State Representative David Friess, SWIC Mascot Kashmir the Snow Leopard, SWIC President Nick Mance, SWIC Sub-District 3 Board Trustee Steve Campo, Randolph County Coroner/SWIC Sub-District 1 Board Trustee Tracy Vallett, Red Bud Mayor Susan Harbaugh and SWIC Red Bud Campus Student Trustee Ben Murphy. Next to them is an illustration of what the expansion will look like when completed.

Thankfully the rain held off just long enough on the morning of June 6 for ground to officially be broken for the Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) career technology education (CTE) program expansion at the Red Bud Campus.

“This is a big day for Red Bud,” SWIC Chief of Enrollment Development and Institutional Planning Robert Tebbe told those in attendance at the event. “SWIC is excited for this project and for the Red Bud community and our southern region. This is an educational opportunity that will lead to direct employment opportunities.”

The new CTE expansion is a 7,800 square foot facility that will be located just west of the current Red Bud campus building and parking lot.
