Don’t forget to vote next Tuesday

The 2024 general election will be held next Tuesday, Nov. 5. While there wasn’t much on the primary ballot this year, for the general election each Randolph County office on the ballot has competition, so it is very important to vote.

For county commissioner, Andy Gerlach of Steeleville, who won in the Republican primary, is facing Martin “Marty” Giordano of Percy, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Both are vying for the spot that current Randolph County Commissioner Marc Kiehna holds, as he opted to not seek re-election this year.

In the state’s attorney race, Republican Christopher Koeneman of Chester is up against Democrat Dennis Frech of DuQuoin. (State’s attorneys are not required to live in the county they serve.) Both were unopposed in the primary election. Current State’s Attorney James Kelley, who had been appointed to the position in December 2022, opted to not run for election.
