RELOCATED–The memorial statue for the five Sisters that were murdered in Liberia in 1992 at the Ruma Convent was relocated to the Ruma Center’s cemetery on Oct. 17. Pictured are crews preparing to move the statue from the entrance.
Thirty-two years ago this month, five Adorers of the Blood of Christ serving as missionaries in Liberia were killed. And this year, a statue that had been dedicated as a memorial to the Sisters was relocated at the Ruma Convent.
Jeff Stahlhut, regional director of communications for the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, discussed the statue’s recent move.
In the spring of 2022, after 146 years, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ closed their Ruma center. The convent property has remained unused and empty since.
