RECEIVED COMMENDATION–Red Bud Police Officer Tyler Cleland received a commendation at Monday night’s council meeting. It was in recognition of his efforts in rescuing a FedEx driver who was trapped in flash flood waters on April 29. Special recognitions were made at Monday night’s Red Bud City Council meeting, including a police commendation, a farewell to a pair of aldermen and a welcome to two new aldermen.
Police Chief John Brittingham presented a certificate of commendation to Officer Tyler Cleland for actions taken on April 29.
That particular afternoon, a storm dumped several inches of water on the local area in a short amount of time, causing some streets to flash flood. A FedEx driver’s vehicle stalled in water at the intersection of County Club Drive and Austin Drive.
“Recognizing the driver of the delivery truck in distress, Officer Cleland unselfishly entered the floodwaters to rescue her, carrying her to safety on his back,” Brittingham stated.
