Prairie du Rocher and Chester both had a seriously strong showing in the 2021 Best of The River contest held by River Travel Magazine, with numerous entries making it into the final round of voting.
The magazine’s annual contest is a survey “focusing on the best attractions, accommodations, food and drink, and trails and tours along the Great River Road from northern Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico.”
This year there were more than 75 new categories focusing on the best attractions, accommodations, food and drink, and more along the Great River Road from its origin in northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana.
Thousands of visitors and locals nominated and voted on categories ranging from best farm-to-table restaurants, art galleries, music venues, cultural trails, best museums, best riverboat tours, best breweries, and more.
River Travel Magazinehopes the 2021 survey will shine a light on the valuable attractions, eateries, and accommodations along the Great River Road that have been under stress due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Last year’s multicategory winners included Fort de Chartres State Historic Site in Prairie du Rocher.
