Several local fire departments – Red Bud, Marissa, Baldwin, Evansville, New Athens, Sparta, Steeleville and Coulterville – participated in a water shuttle relay training session on Oct. 23 at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex. The exercise consisted of filling up fire trucks with water to practice getting consistent water supply to a rural fire that may not have access to water. Pictured is Red Bud’s new 4612 pumper truck which was used to draft water from the lake and supply the water to two other trucks. The Red Bud Fire Department noted, “This was a great exercise as this type of fire ground task can get very complicated and end up backing up causing water supply issues at the scene. This is the kind of work your fire departments are doing to strengthen our mutual aid relationships.”
