Thibodeaux sentenced to 180 years

Clyde J. Thibodeaux

“May hell show you no mercy,” was how one of the victims, while holding back tears, concluded her victim impact statement Monday at the Randolph County Courthouse.

That woman was one of two that gave in person victim statements during the hearing for Clyde J. Thibodeaux, 67, of Tilden.

With a courtroom gallery packed with officers who helped in his arrest, as well as victims, family, reporters and a few other people, Thibodeaux, who was dressed in a gray striped prison jumpsuit and had used a walker to get to and from the hearing, sat quietly through his hearing and sentencing. He only gave responses of “yes sir” and “no sir” to answer direct questions from Judge Jeremy Walker.

Thibodeaux had been arrested in July and charged with eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for offenses that had taken place in Randolph County.
