After a year and numerous motions, a preliminary hearing was held for Karen A. Schwarze on Aug. 24 at the Monroe County Courthouse.
Schwarze, 59, of Valmeyer, was charged with concealing a homicidal death (a Class 3 felony) and obstructing justice/ destroying evidence (a Class 4 felony) following the July 21, 2025 death of Emma Schultheis, 14, of Prairie du Rocher. She entered a plea of not guilty for both counts.
