Number of active cases staying low

Over the past week, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Randolph County slowly crept up before dipping back down a little again, while the amount of reported deaths in Monroe County continued to increase.

On March 9, Randolph County Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported that there were 19 active COVID-19 cases in the county. 

As recently as Friday, Feb. 26, the number of active cases was only 12, the lowest number it has been for Randolph County since early July and the number of active cases had stayed under 20 until March 3 when it was up to 21.

As of March 9, Oathout also noted there were currently no individuals hospitalized in the county, and overall the county has had a total of 4,005 confirmed positive cases. There has been a total of 82 COVID-19 related deaths in the county, with the last one reported on Feb. 17.

In Monroe County, Health Department Administrator John Wagner on March 9 reported 146 active cases, with only seven individuals hospitalized. This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in Monroe County up to 4,122.
