The Red Bud Musketeers claimed the Cahokia Conference title Friday night with a thrilling win at home against the Chester Yellow Jackets. The victory moves the Musketeers to 6-2 overall this season, 5-0 in conference play including the Sparta game. It also gives the team a five game winning streak with one more game in the season and a ton of momentum heading into the final week of the season.
The teams were evenly matched, as evidenced by the scoreless tie that lasted most of the first half. Red Bud finally broke through in their final possession of the half when quarterback Dylan Oliver led a drive that took the Musketeers into the Chester red-zone with under two minutes to play.
