Boys golf off to hot start

SECOND PLACE–The Musketeer golf team played just outside of Greenview in the Bulldog Invitational on Aug. 23. The team had an impressive round lead by Lane Diewald who took second with a 74; Blake Marcheski landed fourth with a 76 and Kruz Koester fifth with a 77. The team’s score of 305 gave them second place in the tournament. This score is a new 18 hole program low for Red Bud High School. The previous record was held by the 1982 team with 307. The golf team hosted Cahokia conference rival Chester at North County Country Club on Aug. 20. The boys went low at the home course firing a 149 with a Draeden Duncan 35 which was good for his first medalist of his high school golf career. Kruz Koester fired a 36; Blake Marcheski shot 37 and Lane Diewald had a 41 to round out scoring for the Musketeers. Chester shot a 179 with a James 40 leading the way for the Bulldogs’ team.

The JV team hosted Breese Central the same day and shot a 157 to Central’s 173. Cartr Hartmann led the way with an even 35, followed by a Brodie Stenzel 39, Charlie Muench 41 and Liam Kilpatrick 44.
