SPECIAL PRESENTATION–Following the Rendezvous opening ceremonies on Saturday, June 1, a special presentation was made. The Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the French Heritage Society presented to Les Amis du Fort de Chartres a plaque designating the inclusion of Fort de Chartres on the French Heritage Corridor initiative in the Midwest. Pictured at the presentation are: Jason Duensing, Rendezvous planning committee chair, vice-president of events for Les Amis and president of Les Coureurs de Bois de Fort de Chartres; Lisa Kahn, co-chair of the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the French Heritage Society; and Karyn Albers, vice-president of education for Les Amis.
Rain dampened some of the festivities on Saturday, but there was still a good turnout for the 54th annual Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres last weekend.
This year, Les Amis du Fort de Chartres (LAdFdC) welcomed to the event M. Yannick Tagand, Consul General of France in Chicago, and members of the French Heritage Society Chicago-Midwest Chapter.
During a presentation held after opening ceremonies on Saturday morning, French Heritage Society Chicago-Midwest Chapter Co-chair Lisa Kahn presented LAdFdC a plaque. This plaque is in honor of chapter’s donation to the recent Fort de Chartres Capital Project Campaign to repair the Fort de Chartres land gate area.
