Annual Rendezvous is this weekend

The two-day popular annual Rendezvous, held the first weekend in June returns to Prairie du Rocher this weekend. The annual event features shooting competitions, military drills, dancing, music, food and traders of 18th century style goods.

The boom of cannons, the smell of campfires and a parade of colorful uniforms will transport visitors back to the 1700s on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2 at Fort de Chartres State Historic Site. The annual Rendezvous is the largest gathering of its kind anywhere in the Midwest, attracting many thousands to the site during this two day special event.

And this year the event will receive additional attention as Les Amis du Fort de Chartres (LAdFdC) will welcome during opening ceremonies M. Yannick Tagand, Consul General of France in Chicago, and members of the French Heritage Society Chicago-Midwest Chapter.
