An amendment to the Monroe Randolph County Enterprise Zone was one of the biggest topics of discussion at the March 13 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Commissioner David Holder noted that the enterprise zone was started in 2020 and this is an amendment to the zone to add in new areas, including Hecker and Ruma, which previously weren’t included in the zone. (The zone previously covered both counties and the cities/villages of Chester, Columbia, Evansville, Red Bud, Sparta, Valmeyer and Waterloo.)
“We have been working on this for around a year,” Holder noted of the proposed amendment. He added that Randolph County Economic Development Director Mark Wilson has been a big help with this.
