CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND–Red Bud High School wrestler Danny Jackson shoots during his championship match in Carmi last weekend.
This past weekend, the Red Bud High School wrestlers traveled to Carmi twice for tournaments. They competed a junior varsity tournament and a varsity tournament. Wrestlers brought home medals from each competition.
“We have been going to the Carmi tournaments for several years and they continue to grow and improve. This year there were over 20 teams at each tournament,” said Head Coach Rob Pipher. “I’ve always liked these tournaments because we get to wrestle some top quality teams that we don’t usually see in our area.”
Top placers at the JV tournament were freshmen Brayden Setzer, first at 138 pounds; Landon Fausz, second at 120 pounds; and Weston Brockmeyer, at 132 pounds.
