Local Boy Scout Zachary Walker has been selected as the State VFW Scout of the Year.
He was submitted for the honor by Red Bud VFW Post 6632 and will receive his award, as well as scholarship money, on June 9.
Walker earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Dec. 1, 2022. His Eagle Scout project was a Prairie du Rocher Historic Walking Trail.
