Last Saturday, the local community came out with overwhelming support for a local girl and her family.
Like most three year olds, Ava Kern has bright eyes, a big smile and loves to play with her sisters. However, unlike others her age, she is currently battling leukemia.
Her parents Mike and Angi Kern noted that in January of this year, Ava had complained of ankle pain over the weekend. By that Sunday, Jan. 16, she was unable to walk. They weren’t sure what the problem was, but took her to the doctor the next day. There they took x-rays and did blood work, and the blood work came back as abnormal.
