St. John’s Lutheran volleyball team made school history by finishing fourth in the Class S state volleyball tournament held on March 23 in Herrin. The team defeated New Horizon after three sets, 21-25, 25-20 and 15-11. They advanced to the quarter final match against Shawnee and won 25-20, 25-20. For the semi final match the team played Germantown and lost 11-25, 9-25. The Cougars then played Iuka for third place. Iuka won the match 25-14, 25-14 to claim third place.
