The proposed annex building for Red Bud High School is one step closer as a presentation on the conceptual design was made at the July 16 board of education meeting.
Back in January, special education teachers Kayla Mueth and Bill Menn gave an update on the district’s special education and transition program, and what they would like to see for the future of it. First, they wanted to rename the program to RISE, which stands for Reaching (for) Independent Skills and Employment.
They noted that the amount of students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) is drastically increasing. Currently around 18 percent of students in the school district receive special education services. They concluded that many students with IEPs are graduating without the skills they need to be employable.
