School board asked to treat golf as team sport

A request for equal treatment for the golf team and discussion on graduation dates were the main topics of discussion at the Feb. 16 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

Lori Rees addressed the board, asking them to take a look at golf and how recognitions are done for this team sport, especially when it comes to who is in the picture on the team award plaques that adorn the school’s halls.

Rees pointed out that there were eight girls on the varsity girls golf team this year. However, only six could attend the Cahokia Conference tournament. And of those six, only four of their scores count.
