Some exciting events are coming up in Kaskaskia and people are asked to save the dates.
On April 20, at 3:30 p.m., they will celebrate the 350th anniversary of the Kaskaskia Immaculate Conception Church’s first congregation in 1675 by Father Marquette, S.J.
Then on April 27, at 1:30 p.m., they will celebrate the bicentennial of the Marquis de Lafayette’s visit of his farewell tour. At that visit, he presented a sword to Master Mason and Illinois Governor Shadrach Bond. Lafayette also visited with Chief Quoin’s daughter, remembering the chief helping during the American Revolution.
Both events are free and open to the public. All are invited to attend.
