Ruma man arrested on weapons charge

Joshua J. Weygandt

Following an alleged argument with his neighbors, a Ruma man was arrested last week on an unlawful use of weapons charge.

A detention hearing was held on Monday, Feb. 10 for Joshua J. Weygandt 37, Ruma, where Randolph County State’s Attorney Chris Koeneman argued that Weygandt was a danger and should be denied pretrial release.

The charging documents stated that Weygandt “knowingly carried on his person, while on the land of another person not as an invitee, a loaded firearm, being an AK-47, which was uncased, loaded and immediately accessible to the defendant, and at a time the defendant had not been issued a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) Card, while also wearing body armor.”
