Red Bud gets revenge against the Pirates

by Nick Fehr

Earlier this season, Red Bud lost the first of the two game series against the Valmeyer Pirates. On the road March 2, they got their chance for redemption. This would be a solid conference win for the Musketeers.

Red Bud started the game out with a Logan Cathell assist to Nick Fehr in the transition, giving the Musketeers their first points of the game. The Red Bud defense prevailed as they got two defensive stops in a row. The Musketeers showed they were ready to play and limited Valmeyer to eight points in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Red Bud had a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter started out with a free throw from Devin Hall. Although the Musketeers weren’t getting it done on the offensive end, they had multiple stops on the defensive end to keep the Pirates scoreless. Red Bud’s offense was going smooth and Parker Van Dorn was a help to that as he hit a pair from the elbow to give the Musketeers a 21-16 lead. Red Bud’s defense was slower towards the end of the second quarter as the Pirates came within one to end the first half.
