Several contracts were approved Monday night at the Red Bud City Council meeting.
Two were approved for the city hall roof project. A total of five bids were received for the roof membrane and another four were received for the shingles.
As City Superintendent Josh Eckart was not at the meeting, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller spoke to the council about the bids. He noted that most of the bids were very close and all received were good bids.
The recommendation was to accept the bid of $35,320 from D.E. Martin Roofing Co., Inc. for the roof membrane and the bid of $12,800 from Five Star Roofing & Exteriors, LLC for the shingles. These bids are independent of each other.
It was pointed out that Five Star Roofing had done the recent roofing work on the fire house, so they were familiar with the project. And while D.E. Martin Roofing has not done work previously for the city, Mueller stated he is familiar with their work and they are a reputable company.
