CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS–It has been 10 years since a Red Bud High School softball team has won the conference championship. This year’s team accomplished this after defeating Chester last Tuesday for their final conference game of the season. The team is currently 25-8 which ties the school record for wins (25) in a season accomplished by the 2012 team. Red Bud, seeded fourth and hosting a regional, will face sixth seeded Nashville on Wednesday. A victory will put them in the championship game on Friday. The softball Musketeers had a small, but mighty week playing only three games, but clinching the title of conference champions.

They faced off against Freeburg last Monday night, dropping that game 16-3. Jayna Bast had two hits that game, along with Lyla Hess and Allie Zipfel each having one hit. Zipfel also scored the team’s three runs with a three run home run.
