SWORN IN–Alan Piel is pictured shaking hands with City Clerk Joanne Cowell after being sworn in on Tuesday evening as the new Red Bud Ward 4 alderman.
At the Tuesday, Sept. 7 Red Bud City Council meeting, a new alderman was sworn in and a brief discussion was held on how to help developers.
Acting Mayor Susan Harbaugh resigned her former Ward 4 alderman position and appointed Alan Piel as her replacement. The council unanimously approved of Piel and he was sworn in.
To coincide with Piel’s appointment as an alderman, the council also approved of a revised committee appointment schedule. Harbaugh noted that for the most part, the changers were to have Piel fill in her previous committee spots.
As for the discussion of helping developers, Alderman Rodney Nevois brought up the topic towards the end of the evening’s meeting.
Nevois pointed out that the city council has been trying to make it easier for developers to come to Red Bud and develop lots. (A prime example of this was the council’s approval of an ordinance in June with incentives for developing subdivisions.) He wanted to suggest further ideas to make the process easier.
