Not many candidates filed for primary

Filing closed on Monday afternoon, Nov. 3 for candidates in the 2026 elections. (The primary will be held on March 17 and the general election on Nov. 3.)

For the primary election, Randolph County only has one race with competition – the sheriff’s race on the Republican ballot. Jarrod Peters of Ellis Grove is seeking re-election to the position and Christopher Seders of Steeleville is challenging him.

No candidate filed for sheriff on the Democratic ballot.
