Anyone who knows a teacher who plans field trips to city hall, organizes community volunteer projects or invites veterans to speak in class, should nominate him/her for the Red Bud VFW Post 6632 Teacher of the Year Award, which can lead to the National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award.
Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for the Teacher of the Year Award. Candidates are judged for citizenship, innovation in the classroom, utilization of resources and passion toward teaching. Winners at the local level receive a certificate and $50 from the Red Bud VFW Post 6632. They will also be nominated for the VFW District 14 Teacher of the Year.
