The Red Bud Musketeer boys basketball team continued their season last week with a Tuesday night home game against the Freeburg Midgets and a Friday night road matchup with the Okawville Rockets. Both opponents are very tough, and the fans knew we would be in store for very competitive games.
Tuesday’s game against Freeburg started very slowly for the Musketeers. In the first quarter, Red Bud was unable to score until halfway through the period, with Freeburg maintaining an 8-0 lead up until about four minutes into it. Junior guard Owen Liefer was able to score Red Bud’s first points with a triple to make it 3-8. Senior Drew Grohmann then stole the ball and went to the hoop leading to a foul in transition. He hit both free throws to make it 5-10. Sophomore guard Trent Sternberg knocked down Red Bud’s second three pointer of the quarter to make it 8-12 after the first.
