Red Bud started the Trico tournament against the host team, the Trico Pioneers, on Saturday, Nov. 30. The Musketeers were looking forward to a win to move their record to a solid 2-0 start. The first half of play was different from what the local team was expecting as they saw Trico hit multiple threes and stretch a lead. After the first half, Trico was leading 25-21.
Red Bud came out in the second half looking like they really wanted to gut out a win. The Musketeers outscored the Pioneers by a score of 16 to 6 in the third period giving them a 37-31 edge. Trico ended up tying the game 42-42 in the last seconds leading to the Musketeers having the ball with just under 15 seconds remaining. The Musketeers reacted under pressure and moved the ball until Lucas Schwartzkopf caught the ball below the free throw line and put up a last-second game-winning bucket. The Red Bud bench erupted with emotion claiming their second straight win on the season. The Musketeers were led in scoring by Trent Sternberg with 13 points and Lucas Schwartzkopf and Luke Quintin with 12 each.
