The Musketeer varsity football team held its Touchdown for Heroes game last Friday night and defeated the Pinckneyville Panthers 40-14 to open the season.
The Boys kicked off to the Panthers first; the Musketeers got a quick three-and-out and forced the punt. Senior Austin Easton was back to receive the punt; he bobbled the ball off the kick and broke a tackle, and scored a 50+ yard punt return touchdown. Quick 6-0 start for the Mudhogs as they missed the extra point. The Musketeers’ defense was solid, forcing another punt from the Panthers. Senior quarterback Landon Ruebusch rolled back in the pocket, firing a 22-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Aiden Eisemann for six. At the end of one, it was all Musketeers.
