Musketeers bring home a victory over Carlyle

by Brian Magee

The Red Bud varsity football team was victorious Friday night with a convincing win over the Indians in Carlyle. What a difference a week makes as the saying goes. The Boys got it all together and played a very strong game against a worthy opponent in the Carlyle squad.

Red Bud scored first midway through the first quarter when quarterback Easton Lucht connected with tight-end Parker Van Dorn for a 45-yard touchdown pass play. Devin Hall ran for the two-point conversion to make the score 8-0. Carlyle answered with a 21-yard touchdown pass and matched the Musketeers with a two-point conversion in the second quarter to make it a 8-8 game at the half.

Red Bud made some changes to the line that paid immediate dividends. Senior Bryce Amann moved to center and freshman Nolan Krack joined Hunter Sauer, Mason Ferrell, and rookie Gavin McDill on the offensive line. The “restructuring” not only supplied adequate blocking to running backs Frank Ford, who rushed for 139 yards, Nick Gantner, and Hall, but gave Lucht time to throw the ball.
