Updates on the jail expansion and the transit district were given at the April 11 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Randolph County Sheriff Jarrod Peters, Kevin Jacobsmeyer of Middendorf & Reuss, and County Architect Mike Schneider of Quadrant Design, were all on hand to discuss the jail renovation project.
Jacobsmeyer reported that they opened bids on April 2 and there were 13 bid packages. “We will recommend 11 of them,” he told the commissioners, adding that some still needed to be reviewed and revised. Overall there will be eight to ten different contractors and contacts.
Board Chairman David Holder noted that the contracts would not be approved that day, but the board would hold a special meeting on April 16 at 2 p.m. to do so.
