For Randolph County, the number of active COVID-19 cases remains high this week.
Randolph County Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported on Aug. 6 a total of 110 active cases and a week later by Aug. 13 the number had jumped to 165. Prior to Aug. 6, the last time the county had more than 100 cases was on Jan. 23 of this year.
This week, the number had gone down some, with 131 active cases reported on Aug. 16. At that time, Oathout also noted only one person was hospitalized.
