On Sept. 11, 1997, Jessica Gerlach was murdered in her Sparta home. Last week, the man who shot her was finally sentenced.
Following the sentencing, Randolph County State’s Attorney Chris Koeneman shared information with the North County News on the major update in this 28 year old case.
He noted that Gary Johnson, 52, on Dec. 17 pled guilty to first degree murder and was sentenced to 60 years in jail. However, there is much more to the case.
