Randolph County Clerk Melanie L. Johnson has announced that her office will soon be sending applications for permanent vote by mail to approximately 18,500 eligible Randolph County voters.
Under Illinois law, the county clerk is required to send applications prior to a general election to every registered voter unless that voter is already enrolled in permanent vote by mail or has “opted out” of receiving applications in the future.
Signing up for permanent vote by mail allows a voter to automatically receive a ballot without the need to request one for each election. If a voter wants to receive a ballot for primary as well as general elections, they must indicate what party’s ballot – Democrat or Republican, for example – they want. Voters need to complete the form, sign where indicated, and return it either by mail or in person to the Randolph County Clerk’s Office as soon as possible.
