On Feb. 4, the Metro East Region (which includes Randolph, Monroe, St. Clair, Bond, Clinton, Madison and Washington Counties) was finally able to join the other 10 regions of the state in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan, and the metrics for the area continue to keep getting better.
Under Phase 4, indoor dining and drinking is now allowed again, as well as meetings and social events limited to the lesser of 50 people or 50 percent of facility capacity.
In Randolph County, the number of active cases continues to drop – the county has had less than 100 active cases since Jan. 25 and has been under 50 active cases sine Feb. 4, and the number continues to steadily decline.
On Feb. 9, Randolph County Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported there were only 39 active cases. The last time the amount of active cases was under 40 was back in early August.
As of Feb. 9, the total amount of confirmed positive cases in Randolph County was up to 3,935, with only two individuals currently hospitalized.
