Historical marker to be dedicated in Coulterville

This weekend, a historical marker will be dedicated in Coulterville to honor General George Rogers Clark and the Illinois Campaign of 1779.

During the Revolutionary War, Clark and his “Long Knives” led a daring campaign through Randolph County, traveling from Fort Kaskaskia to Fort Vincennes to secure the frontier for the American cause. This pivotal mission helped shape the course of our nation’s fight for independence.

All are invited to witness this dedication and learn more about this incredible moment in local and national history. Join community leaders, historians and fellow patriots as they honor the courage and legacy of Clark and his men.
