Friday storm caused damage at care center

STORM DAMAGE–Randolph County Care Center Administrator Tammy von Yeast shared this picture of some of the damage from Friday night’s storm at the center. Pictured in the basement hallway is some of the HVAC/geothermal equipment that was pushed through a wall (which can be seen on top of the equipment), as well as a few inches of water on the floor.

Late last week, severe storms and heavy rains dumped on the local area. In particular, Friday evening, July 10, as numerous inches of rain fell in short period of time, many found areas that normally don’t flood to be flooded.

And around 10:30 p.m. that night, the storms blew in a set of basement windows at the Randolph County Care Center’s basement, causing damage and flooding. Initially, they thought they would have to evacuate the center.
