A special meeting was held by the Evansville Village Board on July 20 to discuss the purchase of a new backhoe.
Village Superintendent Ed Braun updated the board on the condition of the village’s old backhoe. He noted that the backhoe is currently at Erb Equipment and they called after the board’s meeting this month to give an update on its condition.
It was noted that the hydraulic pump went out and sent metal throughout the hydraulic system. The minimal cost to replace the pump and install a filter system to get the metal out was around $7,000.
Braun added that they spent $6,000 just last year on various repairs. “It is a 22 year old machine and I can’t see putting another $7,000 into it,” he stated.
