Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff is reporting that the quick actions of three deputies saved a man’s life.
He noted that on the morning of March 17, a crew from Liefer Excavating of Red Bud was digging a deep trench to install a drainage pipe in a farm field off of Palestine Road outside of Chester.
One crew member, Mike Kaiser, was down in the trench standing on the pipe when one side of the trench fell in. Wolff stated that Kaiser was bent over and buried in the dirt up to his back, with large chunks of dirt on his back.
