The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Waterloo man for financial fraud.
In a press release, the sheriff’s department noted that on May 16, they received a report from a family member of an individual who had recently passed away. The family member informed the department of several fraudulent bank transactions in the deceased family member’s account.
The individual had been admitted to Barnes Hospital for medical care on March 12 and was later diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Subsequently, on May 1, the victim was admitted to a nursing home facility in Caseyville, where he passed away on May 15.
