A possible rezoning matter and a complaint about city utilities took up most of the Red Bud City Council meeting on Monday night.
City Code Administrator Jeff Mueller explained the rezoning matter, noting that Aaron and Cheri Lange had asked the planning commission to rezone a property on South Main Street from R2 single family residential to B2 business, so they could operate an insurance agency there.
Mueller noted that a hearing was held on the matter by the planning commission on Sept. 21, but the commission had voted to deny the zoning map amendment. The reason was that despite this being a “low key, low traffic” business, if the property was rezoned, then any business that buys that property in the future would be able to operate there without having to get approval from the planning commission or city council.
