Commissioners discuss process to replace Davis

Acceptance of the retirement of the regional superintendent of schools and lights for the Chester bridge were discussed at the May 23 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.

On May 16, Regional Superintendent of Schools Kelton Davis filed a letter of notification for retirement with the Randolph County Clerk’s Office. He filed a similar letter in Monroe County the day prior.

In the letter he stated that his retirement would be effective at the end of the day on June 30, 2025. He added, “As I am unable to legally serve as Regional Superintendent of Schools for Monroe and Randolph Counties while retired under the Teacher Retirement System, I am vacating the position with exactly two years remaining on the term.”
