A permit for a solar farm and tourism matters were discussed at the March 14 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The commissioners were considering a special use permit for a 28 acre, 5 megawatt community solar farm to be located off of Rabe Lane and Substation Road, near Steeleville.
The solar farm will be built by Arena Renewables, which has another 5 megawatt project nearby. Both are located on property owned by Patricia Inselmann.
Project developer Jay Gupta explained that this is the second phase of the company’s project there – with the other having been approved by the commissioners last August.
