A general membership luncheon was held by the Red Bud Chamber of Commerce at the 1860 Public House on July 31. The lunch was sponsored by Red Bud Industries.

The guest speaker for the lunch was Bria Caldwell of the Violence Prevention Center. She is the community liaison for southern Illinois and located in Belleville.

The Violence Prevention Center services Monroe, Randolph and St. Clair Counties. They provide shelter, advocacy, counseling, crisis hotline and legal advice for those in need.

They are going to have a training in October in Red Bud for local businesses. They will teach businesses how to assist someone that comes to them for help. In Randolph County, there is currently only one safe space in the entire county. Caldwell would like to expand it to include one in Red Bud as well.
