MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY–This year, Trinity Lutheran Church in Red Bud (Horse Prairie) is celebrating its 180th anniversary.
Trinity Lutheran Church in Horse Prairie (Red Bud) was organized 180 years ago. To observe the milestone, members and guests of Trinity gathered at the Pour Vineyard about two miles south of the church on Sept. 24 for a worship service.
The vineyard area is a historic place for Trinity as from the late 1800s and early 1900s, the annual church picnic took place there, and in 1917 a reformation service with area congregations, was held in what then was called Schrieber’s Grove.
Rev. Scott Hojnacki, the current pastor of Trinity, based his sermon on “Sing the Lord’s Song.” He reminded those in attendance that a church building is not what makes up a congregation. The people are the church. Hymns of praise echoed over the lake on a beautiful night of thanksgiving.
