She’s now a nurse practitioner, but her long journey through nursing education began with one CNA class. He took auto mechanics classes every semester for three years, and already has a job waiting for him when he graduates. Still another student is making a name for himself internationally with welding skills he first honed at the Career Center of Southern Illinois (CCSI).
These students and hundreds of others are pursuing careers based on skills they learned on the small campus just outside of Hecker.
This year, CCSI celebrates 50 years of providing technical and alternative education programs to high school students.
